Care Instructions
Caring for hand-crafted pieces
Every Craft of Jaipur piece is made by hand from natural materials. A little care keeps it looking beautiful for decades.
Block-print textiles (Bagru, Sanganeri)
- First wash: Cold water only, by hand, no soap. The natural dye may bleed slightly — this is normal.
- Subsequent washes: Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Wash separately from light colours for the first 2–3 washes.
- Drying: Air-dry in shade. Direct sunlight will fade the natural indigo over time.
- Ironing: Medium heat, on the reverse side.
Razais & quilts
- Dry clean recommended for first cleaning.
- Spot-clean stains with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of mild soap.
- Air out monthly to keep the cotton filling fresh.
Blue pottery
- Hand-wash only with warm water and mild soap.
- Not microwave or dishwasher safe — the glaze can crack.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not pour boiling water into a cold piece).
Meenakari & brass
- Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth after use.
- For deeper cleaning: warm soapy water, dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- A light coat of clear lacquer (every 1–2 years) preserves the meenakari enamel.
Wood & lac craft
- Dust regularly with a soft brush.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity to prevent cracking.
- Polish with beeswax once a year.
