Care Instructions

Caring for hand-crafted pieces

Every Craft of Jaipur piece is made by hand from natural materials. A little care keeps it looking beautiful for decades.

Block-print textiles (Bagru, Sanganeri)

  • First wash: Cold water only, by hand, no soap. The natural dye may bleed slightly — this is normal.
  • Subsequent washes: Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Wash separately from light colours for the first 2–3 washes.
  • Drying: Air-dry in shade. Direct sunlight will fade the natural indigo over time.
  • Ironing: Medium heat, on the reverse side.

Razais & quilts

  • Dry clean recommended for first cleaning.
  • Spot-clean stains with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of mild soap.
  • Air out monthly to keep the cotton filling fresh.

Blue pottery

  • Hand-wash only with warm water and mild soap.
  • Not microwave or dishwasher safe — the glaze can crack.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not pour boiling water into a cold piece).

Meenakari & brass

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth after use.
  • For deeper cleaning: warm soapy water, dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • A light coat of clear lacquer (every 1–2 years) preserves the meenakari enamel.

Wood & lac craft

  • Dust regularly with a soft brush.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity to prevent cracking.
  • Polish with beeswax once a year.
